Linden Baroque Orchestra
Julian Perkins conductorHandel: Te Deum & Jubilate for the Peace of Utrecht
Eleanor Daley: In Remembrance
Vivaldi: Kyrie
Vivaldi: Sinfonia Al Santo Sepulchro
Fasch: Concerto in D minor for wind and strings
Zelenka: Da pacem Domine
Zelenka: HypocondrieHandel wrote this uplifting choral work to celebrate the signing of the Utrecht Treaty to end the Spanish War of Succession in 1713. It is a thrilling piece.
We are delighted to be joined by the excellent New London Singers who will perform, a cappella, a moving contemporary composition by Eleanor Daley, 'In Remembrance', from her Requiem.
We play together Vivaldi's Kyrie for double choirs and orchestras and Zelenka's sumptuous and joyful 'Da Pacem Domine'. If you don't know this work, it is worth coming just to hear it!
There are 3 orchestral pieces, Vivaldi's Sinfonia ''Al Santo Sepolcro' and one of Fasch's splendid concerts for wind and strings , this one in D Minor and Zelenka's decidedly eccentric 'Hypocondrie', which sometimes seems avant-garde even today!
The concert will be directed by early music director and keyboard player Julian Perkins.
