In addition to our Musical Director, these are the people who run the choir. Contact us for any inquiries regarding our activities, fundraising opportunities, or how we might be able to work with you.

Tim Jones – Chair and Trustee
Tim brings a passion for music and leadership to his role as Chair of New London Singers. After graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Toronto, Canada, Tim moved to the UK in 1998 and joined the choir in 2008. He has since played a vital role in its ongoing success, previously serving as both Treasurer and Publicity Lead. In 2023, Tim was appointed Chair and is enthusiastic about leading the choir alongside Musical Director Jamie Powe. Tim works for a global consulting organization specialising in client feedback insights and analysis.

Susie May – Secretary and Trustee
Susie has been a member of NLS since 2004 and is currently serving her third stint as secretary. She left her career in publishing in 2016 to become a parent-carer and now devotes the rest of her time to several trusteeship and third-sector governance roles.

Alistair Cromwell –Treasurer and Trustee
Alistair has sung since he was a chorister at Wells Cathedral many years ago. He joined NLS in the early 2000s and has served as Treasurer and Trustee a couple of times during his time with the choir. As well as using his background in finance, Alistair also has experience with major charities which helps in managing and maintaining our own charitable status.

John Kennedy – Repertoire Committee
John joined New London Singers in 2008 and was Chairman of the management committee from 2011 to 2018. He is delighted to rejoin the committee in 2025 and aims to bring interesting and challenging programs for each NLS season. Outside of choral singing, John’s interests include cricket (mainly watching Surrey Country Cricket Club at The Oval), travel and playing the piano.

Cynthia O’Donnell – Concert Coordinator
Cynthia joined the New London Singers shortly after graduating from the Royal College of Music where she studied organ, piano and singing. A keen and longtime member of the choir (no need to say exactly how long that is!) she has outlasted five other conductors prior to Jamie. Cynthia has previously served on the committee as Publicity Secretary, Chairman and Librarian before taking on her current post and is delighted to still be able to contribute to and enjoy singing a wide variety of music in a small quality group. Professionally, for the last 20 or so years Cynthia has taught piano and also travelled much of the world on various cruises, accompanying her baritone singer husband as one half of a duo performing the classical concerts on board.

Rachel Hambling – Publicity Lead
Rachel joined NLS in 2025 and now serves as Publicity Lead. Before moving to London, she was a choral scholar at the University of St Andrews, where she developed a strong foundation in ensemble singing. Alongside singing, Rachel works in HR for a financial services company. Outside of music, she is an avid reader and enjoys running and baking.
